Dr. Ernest Baskin is an Associate Professor of Food, Pharma, and Healthcare at Saint Joseph’s University, with a Ph.D. in Marketing from Yale University School of Management. He also holds an M.A. and M.Phil. in Marketing from Yale, along with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from Penn's College of Arts and Sciences.
An expert in consumer behavior and marketing research, Dr. Baskin’s work focuses on consumer judgment, decision-making, and biases, using experimental methodology and survey design. He also consults on workforce retention and recruitment.
His research has been published in top journals like the Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Marketing Research. Dr. Baskin has received numerous accolades, including recognition as a "Millennial to Watch" by the Philadelphia Inquirer and being named one of the "40 Under 40" business school professors by Poets & Quants.

Hunton will address the HFC Management Final Rule, addressing how it differs from the proposed rule and whether requests made in previous association coalition comments were included.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently finalized the Phasedown of Hydrofluorocarbons: Management of Certain Hydrofluorocarbons and Substitutes Under the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act of 2020 (HFC Management) Final Rule. The rule is the third component of a series of rulemakings required under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act and establishes a new program for the management, recycling, and reuse of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), synthetic gases primarily used for refrigeration and cooling.
Hear from the law firm Hunton Andrews Kurth who will provide an overview of the final rule, addressing how it differs from the proposed rule and whether requests made in our previous association coalition comments were included. Keith T. Ayoob, Ed.D., is a pediatric nutritionist and clinical practitioner. He is director of the nutrition clinic at the Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center at Einstein and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Ayoob’s work focuses on obesity in children. His clinical approach considers the immediate social context of a child’s obesity problems. His research interests are treating and preventing obesity; preventing type 2 diabetes; cardiovascular health; feeding problems; and the nutritional effects of drugs commonly prescribed to children for behavioral issues.
Rufus Chaney

Rufus L. Chaney obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Purdue University in 1969. He worked with USDA-Agricultural Research Service for 46 years, retiring in 2016. He did research in lab, greenhouse and field on fate of metals in biosolids, soils, crops, and the food-chain transfer and bioavailability of soil and crop metals to animals. Dr. Chaney contributed to US-EPA rules on land application of biosolids to protect food safety and crop yields. He invented the concept of soil metal phytoextraction and led a Cooperative Research and Development Research Program to develop a patented complete commercial phytoextraction technology. His work on bioavailability of soil Pb and treating soils with Fe-rich biosolids has contributed significantly to acceptance of in situ remediation of metal contaminated soils and using mixtures of biosolids and byproducts to restore ecosystems.

Seyfferth’s research is rooted in soil biogeochemistry to develop sustainable ways to lower human exposure to harmful contaminants from food. Rick Stein joined FMI in 2014, and is responsible for developing a portfolio of services and activities to assist members in formulating and executing their fresh food strategies. Prior to joining FMI, Rick spent 35 + years in a wide range of retail grocery merchandising and marketing responsibilities. Most recently Stein was the Vice President of retail marketing & merchandising execution for Safeway Stores, Inc. Previously he held both divisional and corporate responsibilities in his tenure at Safeway in retail/store operations, category management, sales, marketing/merchandising, and strategy development. He has experience in virtually every facet of the retail food business and helped lead Safeway to achieve operational excellence and increased market share and revenues.Stein graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor of Arts in Behavioral and Social Sciences. He has earned continuing educations credits in marketing, merchandising and management, most recently with the Disney Institute. Doug Baker is a food retail industry relations vice president for FMI - The Food Industry, where he facilitates professional, non-competitive collaboration among member communities across private brands and technology issue areas. In addition to his oversight of the private brands council and their efficiency-driven initiatives to encourage brand owner innovation, Doug also leads FMI’s CIO Technology Board efforts related to omnichannel commerce facilitating benchmarking, research studies, and other collaborative projects that enable the path to modern retailing. Prior to FMI, Doug began his career in the food retail industry in 1984 as a bagger with Fry’s Food Stores. His 30+ years in grocery retail have included leadership roles at Fry’s, Kraft/Nabisco and Federated Group. Baker holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and throughout his career, he has focused on retail operations, consumer packaged goods manufacturing and private brand development and marketing.
